This project was inspired by the Restoring Honor Rally held at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, DC on August 28, 2010. It has further inspiration from the original intent of the Merit Badge presented to soldiers on the battlefield by General George Washington. Plus the inspiration coming from Romans 8-28,"And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to His purpose."
The way this project will work is simple. You nominate someone in Shelby or Cleveland County who has placed others above and beyond their own comfort. Someone who has sacrificed themselves to the betterment of Shelby and Cleveland County. These people must be of good moral character and who do not seek to gain fame or glory. It doesn't matter what their political asssocation, religious affiliation or economic standing might be in the community.
If you want to nominate someone for the Cleveland County 828 Merit send an email with the following.
- Your Real Name
- Your Telephone Number
- The name of the person you want to nominate
- His or her occupation
- At least a two, complete paragraph statement about this person and what they have done and what makes this person stand heads above the rest.
You may attach the statement to the email. The statement should be either .DOC or .PDF format.
Place 828 Merit in the subject line and email it to ibocarolinas@carolina.rr.com
All nominations will be placed in a voting booth. The citizens of Cleveland County will be allowed to vote on the nomination of their choice. The winner will receive an 828 Merit Certificate.
Please do not nominate family or anyone deceased.
